Welcome to the official webpage of the Research Centre in Business, Economics, and Resources (CBER) at Ho Chi Minh City Open University, Vietnam.
We are a young and energetic group of researchers. Established in September 2020, the centre strives to be a premier research centre in Business, Economics, and Resources in Vietnam.
With the honorary Australia-based leader, the group has 4 full-time researchers and a network of associate co-authors and research assistants and PhD scholars. CBER’s research expertise includes Applied economics; Asset pricing; Fiscal Federalism/Decentralization & Inequality; Exchange rate policy; Energy and Environmental Economics; and Regional Economics.
CBER has more than 100 research papers published in peer-reviewed international journals which are indexed in Web of Science’s ISI (SSCI and SCIE) and Scopus (Q1 and Q2), including leading and high-impact-factor journals such as Journal of Economic Surveys; Renewable Energy; Energy Policy; Applied Economics; Economics Letters; The North American Journal of Economics and Finance; Emerging Markets Finance and Trade; Journal of Intellectual Capitals; Journal of the Asia Pacific Economy; Singapore Economic Review; Economics Papers; Journal of Asian Economics and many others.
Members of the CBER have been awarded full scholarships (tuition fees and living allowances) to pursue a Ph.D. study in Australia and the UK. Our research director, Mr. Vo The Anh, is completing his PhD studies at Concordia University, Canada.
CBER Team is young and inexperienced researchers. None of the team members of CBER has been awarded a Ph.D. degree. As such, the key and fundamental aims of CBER are: (i) to provide an important platform for members to excel themselves to go to the advanced English-speaking countries for their Ph.D. studies and (ii) to contribute significant and high-quality research outputs in Business, Economic, and Resources for Ho Chi Minh City Open University and Vietnam.
In Achieving International Excellence, the CBER’s philosophy, we aim to achieve high quality for everything we do here at CBER.
The Research Centre in Business, Economics, and Resources at Ho Chi Minh City Open University (OU) has been established to achieve the following objectives:

- To enhance and strengthen research capacities for staff and research students at OU by defining selected areas of research in business and economics which are unique to OU.
- To exchange/share research ideas and to conduct joint research with highly regarded scholars from international universities/institutes.
- To increase research’s outputs from highly ranked international journals, including journals/books indexed in SCOPUS and/or ISI and/or Australia’s ABDC Rankings from B and above.
- To provide assistance to research activities in business and economics at OU.
