Mr. Tien Pham was awarded a master’s degree in Applied Economics in 2014 by Ho Chi Minh City Open University – a top-tier university in Vietnam. He had been invited to participate in various training programs (2008, 2009, 2013) on analytical methods in the social sciences – geography, economics, statistics, social-anthropology, history by the French Development Agency (AFD) in collaboration with the French Institute of Development Studies (IRD), the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and other universities. Tien’s research has been published in refereed international and national journals (Journal of International Economics and Finance) and Journal of Asian Business and Economic Studies; Asian Journal of Economics and Banking; and Journal of Finance – Marketing. Tien had been working at the Institute of Development Economics Research, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics. As a deputy head of the research department, he has been responsible for socio-economic development planning. He has implemented more than 15 planning projects and 100 economic development projects for provinces in the South Central Coastal and the Mekong Delta regions in Vietnam. Tien currently works at the Office of Journal of Finance – Marketing Research, published by University of Finance – Marketing. He has been teaching since 2008 on Data Analysis, Statistics in Economics, and Scientific Research Methods for various universities in Vietnam such as University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, University of Finance – Marketing, Ton Duc Thang University, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, University of Food Technology, Binh Duong University, Thu Dau Mot University, and many others. Tien is also a regular inviting lecturer for the Center for Young Science and Technology, supporting young and talented Vietnamese scholars. His main research interests cover local economic development, private economy, innovative entrepreneurship, and informal economy.
